Kolkata Derby 2023 | Mohan Bagan fails to show up in CFL Derby against East Bengal

Mohan Bagan SG missed out on the Kolkata derby as the club has objected to the fixture scheduled by the IFA. Mohan Bagan has been scheduled to play in the CFL Super Six against East Bengal FC in Naihti on Thursday, 30 November. The club Management cited the congestion of fixtures and further highlighted the ineffective schedule by the Indian Football Association.

The IFA is waiting for the Mogan Bagan before they declare absent and the match expected to be kick off by 2 pm. As a result of the absence of Mohan Bagan, East Bengal will be awarded full points by IFA Organisers. So far Mogan Bagan has 4 matches left while East Bengal has two matches left in the CFL Super Six.

Bagan has raised the objection to the fixture of IFA, as the club expects to play in the ISL scheduled for the host Hyderabad FC but due to an ongoing election in Telangana, the match was shifted to Bhubaneswar Orissa. Juan Ferrando’s side could not appear in the IFA Fixture as the club headed to Odisha on Thursday evening.

Coming back to the IFA, Mohammedan Sporting has clinked the tittle of CLF while East Bengal was awarded as a runner–up in the Calcutta Football League Super Six.
