UP Yoddhas’ upcoming contest has to be the most high-stake as they take on the reigning champions Patna Pirates in Match 29 of the PKL 11 tomorrow. The match between UP Yoddhas vs Patna Pirates in PKL 11 is crucial for both teams in this contest. Who will win?
Watch UP Yoddhas vs Patna Pirates.
The Yoddhas lost their last match with a close score of 28-30 against the Haryana Steelers. What is even more shocking is the fact that the star raiding triumvirate of Bharat Hooda, Surinder Gill, and Bhavani Rajpoot had very little influence in the Steelers layout, while the defence led by Manpreet Singh and having other quality players in Rahul Sethpal and Sanjay Dhull, dominated the mat.
For all that, the UP Yoddhas have had some solace in their season’s stand and more particularly the great performance of Gagan Gowda all through. The same can be seen from his magnificent display against Mohammadreza Shadloui, suggesting that he could well turn out to be a valid fourth-raider should the team find it in a tough spot. In addition, getting a point from the match though is always a good sign given the swiftness of the scores, is in this case a consolation.
Worries about UP Yoddhas’ Defence
Before the match against the Pirates, Yoddhas need to sort out their defence problems. Sumit has been the only consistent player for PKL 11 so far, while Mahender Singh and Sahul Kumar look to pick up their performance if Yoddhas, based in Lucknow, wants to bounce back from the recent defeat they suffered. Another worry is the form of captain Surender Gill who has been to score a paltry one point in three matches.
Patna Pirates Seek to Regain Form
The Patna Pirates, who have emerged as PKL three-time champions, will be keen to overcome the disappointing 26-28 defeat to the Telugu Titans with Hi-Flyer Pawan Sehrawat. This was the second consecutive loss in the last three games, which put the Pirates in the relegation zone.
Now, the situation with the raiding lineup was quite volatile and Devank stands out as the best in Pirates. However, besides the impressive score of 38 points, Ambala’s raiding department looks frail against overall team strength, given that 25 of his points were scored against Tamil Thalaivas only. Overall, it looks like the team is still trying to find the ideal lineup on the mat.
On the defensive side of the pitch, buying Ankit Jaglan and Deepak Rathee have been proven to be quite good at developing strong tackles. However, the team will need more contributions from their main defenders, and this is why head coach, Narender Redhu, should hope that players like Shubham Shinde and Gurdeep come into the defence to bolster the Pirates’ defence.
